For more than thirty years, The House of Ravenwood has fulfilled its purpose of offering education to those seeking information about Wicca and the traditional Craft, as well as providing a place for seekers to study, learn and grow in the path of the Old Religion. Founded by Lady Sintana, our Witch Queen and Elder High Priestess in the 1970s, Ravenwood was instrumental in winning legal recognition for Wicca as a valid religion in the United States. With the love and support of many, including our Elder High Priest, Lord Merlin, Ravenwood survived many challenges and was one of the first churches of Wicca to receive 501(c) 3 status as a not-for-profit church.
Based in the Greater Atlanta area, Ravenwood continues to serve as a spiritual home for students wishing to dedicate themselves to a path of self-discovery, harmony, balance and spiritual practice. We continue to be blessed with the guidance of both Lady Sintana and Lord Merlin who fought together in the front lines of the battle for religious tolerance and equality.
We, and all our sister groups, continue to uphold the practice of transmitting the ancient wisdom of our tradition through a rigorous teacher-student interaction based upon strict protocol and discipline, guided by a High Priest and/or a High Priestess. Our focus is on learning and spiritual development guided by hands-on leaders with multiple years of experience and training to lead and guide others on the path to enlightenment.
There are many who have come to Ravenwood for training and spiritual development over the years and attained ministerial status. Some have formed their own groups and work to perpetuate and ensure the integrity of Lady Sintana’s vision. Others have become elders in the tradition and continue to offer valuable support and counsel to coven leaders. This rich network of individuals and groups is an important part of what makes our tradition a “living” tradition—diverse, vital and strong.
Under the direction of Lady Sintana and Lord Merlin, the House of Ravenwood has been reorganized and is made up of four active sister groups led by active elders including the following:
